For years, I operated in corporate IT operations, hitting targets, delivering projects, and collecting a comfortable paycheck.
Behind the scenes, I was trapped in "the in-between"—that exhausting gap between managing systems and stepping fully into my true calling to coach and develop leaders.
The Trap of "Total Readiness"
When IT professionals sense friction in their career, we default to how we're wired: we analyze, gather data, and attempt to architect a perfect solution before taking action.
I bought every leadership book, enrolled in certifications, and collected endless information. But instead of clarity, I created overwhelm.
I was drowning in complexity, waiting for a sense of "total readiness" that was never going to come.
The Reality Shift: Information vs. Application
The turning point wasn't another credential. It was realizing that information without application is just high-priced distraction.
When you lead or build a career purely from data gathering, you stay stuck in three phases of friction:
Stagnation: Stuck in data & over-analysis
Discord: Pressure builds without motion
Dissonance: Disconnect between output and personal fulfillment
Real momentum didn't start until I stripped away the noise and shifted my focus from managing tasks to investing in people.
I stopped trying to engineer a 50-step master plan and started taking single, purpose-driven actions—even when I felt unprepared. Moving past friction into true alignment isn't about knowing everything; it's about trusting the process enough to make the next right move.
From Friction to Alignment
If you’re sitting in "the in-between" today, stop waiting for perfect clarity before you step forward. You don't need to see the whole staircase—you just need to take the next step.
