Stop trying to lead from the front of the room when you’re still feeling stuck in the "pit."
Most leaders think influence comes from their title, but true impact is actually forged in the friction.
We’re obsessed with escaping our setbacks. We pray for the shortcut, the "out," or the path around the problem.
But leadership isn't about being spared from the struggle. It’s about being sustained through it.
Look at the story of Joseph. He was betrayed, sold, and imprisoned. Yet, the narrative repeats one phrase five times: "The Lord was with Joseph."
Notice what it doesn’t say. It doesn't say he was spared from the pit, the slavery, or the prison. It says he was brought safely through them.
The Shift: Positional vs. Identity-Based Leadership
If your leadership is Positional, your confidence fluctuates with your circumstances:
In the "Palace" (The Win): You feel like a leader.
In the "Pit" (The Setback): You feel like a failure.
If your leadership is Identity-Based, your confidence is rooted in Presence:
You understand that the pit isn't a detour; it’s the training ground.
You stop asking, "How do I get out of this?"
You start asking, "Who am I becoming in this?"
Your current professional friction isn't evidence of your absence of favor. It is the very thing shaping the integrity and discipline you’ll need for the "Palace" that’s coming.
You don't need a change of scenery to lead well. You need an awareness of the Presence that’s already with you.
In your current season, are you focused on the "Pit" or the "Purpose"?
Do you believe the best leaders are born in the "wins" or forged in the "friction"?
